NeedUpgradeAgain (NEEDUPGRADEAGAIN) firmwares are transition builds - but the upgrade purpose depends on the control-board model. 3 NEEDUPGRADEAGAIN file(s) are listed for Whatsminer M33S+.
For h616 boards: NEEDUPGRADEAGAIN bridges the REL → REL2 migration. First install 20231213.15.NeedUpgradeAgain, then 20231213.17.NeedUpgradeAgain, and only then the current REL2 firmware.
For h3 / h6 / h6os boards: NEEDUPGRADEAGAIN was used to update filesystem (rootfs) protection by changing the filesystem password - NOT for REL line migration. Do NOT install them unnecessarily if your miner runs stably on firmware newer than the NEEDUPGRADEAGAIN dates - flashing can break the miner.
